A safari package is only useful when its number of days corresponds to real time on the ground. Review the first pickup, the order of the destinations, each accommodation night and the last transfer. Make sure the published itinerary is specific enough to compare fairly with a competing quotation.
Kilimanjaro itineraries need an explicitly confirmed route and appropriate guiding, accommodation and emergency arrangements. The advertised day count should not be confused with arrival and departure days.
A great itinerary is matched to the season, the traveller’s pace and the main goal of the trip. Someone focused on photography or one particular species may prefer longer in a single area; a first-time visitor may value a broader mix of scenery. Wildlife remains unpredictable, and a responsible operator should never guarantee sightings.
Ask for an updated dated itinerary, confirmation of accommodation or approved alternatives, the exact services in the total price and the applicable payment and cancellation policy. These details help prevent a mismatch between attractive online copy and the actual holiday.
Lemosho starts on Kilimanjaro’s western side and is often chosen for its changing scenery and the opportunity to spend more time on the mountain. Different advertised durations can follow different pacing, so the number of days matters.
Compare the exact camp-by-camp plan rather than assuming every Lemosho itinerary is identical. Some shorter variants compress stages while longer programmes allow a more gradual schedule.
Read each published trekking day in the full itinerary and verify the overnight stages with the licensed outfitter. Route length and accommodation type vary; a responsible plan addresses altitude considerations and the crew’s emergency arrangements rather than relying on summit promises.
For a climbing journey, compare the guide-to-group arrangement, permitted route and planned support services. Health suitability belongs in a conversation with a qualified healthcare professional, and the tour company should have a documented plan for unexpected conditions.
Before confirming, request a final breakdown of accommodation nights, room type, meals, drinking water arrangements, transport, guides, park or conservation fees, domestic flights if relevant, and activities not included in the basic tour. Understand deposit, cancellation and refund terms from the company’s current official policy—not from generic third-party price lists.
Tanzania’s landscapes change between wetter and drier periods. Seasonal wildlife movements, trail conditions and flying weather can all influence the day-by-day experience. A thoughtful itinerary explains the advantages and trade-offs of the requested dates without promising a specific animal sighting or perfect weather.
No. A mountain trek has environmental and altitude-related risks that call for authorized guides, appropriate arrangements and individual medical advice.
Only if expressly listed in the current quotation; trek days and hotel nights are not interchangeable.
Not necessarily. Ask the outfitter exactly what gear is supplied, rented or excluded.
No responsible operator can guarantee a summit or remove high-altitude risks.
After breakfast and briefing, drive to Londorossi Park Gate (about a 2.5-hour drive). From here a forest track requiring a 4WD vehicle leads to Lemosho Glades. Walk along forest trails to Mti Mkubwa (big tree) campsite.

Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which goes to the Arrow Glacier. We now continue down to the Barranco Camp. Although you end the day around the same elevation as when you began, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek.
At Stella Point, you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see. Faster hikers may view the sunrise from the summit. From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. Once at Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa!
From the summit we begin our descent by continuing straight down to the Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You may want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. We arrive at Mweka Camp and enjoy our last evening on the mountain.
-- Elevation: 4700m/15,350ft to 5895m/19,340ft

After breakfast we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and T-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). From the gate, continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi (about 30 minutes). Don't forget to tip your guides and porters.
